Submerged water plant in upland, acid stream.
No interactions present.
As I recall (nothing to hand to check), this is one of those species that we have an international responsibility to look after. Not threatened here yet, but doing less well in continental Europe.
I'm a bit worried that iSpot offered me the alternative names "Myriophyllum alterniflorum" and even "Alternate-leaved Water-milfoil". Dunno how the database has evolved, but these names should not be on it. Just to be clear, it is the upper flowers that are alternate. the leaves are in whorls.
Thanks for that - I should have got my feet wet and had a proper look at the plant!
to be an idiot.
I meant to complain about iSpot offering me "Myriophyllum alternifolium" as a name and my fingers disobeyed my brain and typed "alterniflorum" again (and indeed have tried to as I type this correction). I cannot edit my comment above now, so hence this correction.
