insect laying eggs for ID

I found this insect in my garden today. It was more of the size of a bee fly or a bee rather than a hoverfly. I presume this is a female laying eggs on my daylily plants.

thankyou for the ID

Thankyou - that is the last insect I want anywhere near my daffodils.

Gardening naturally down by a Scottish Lade.

All part of nature's rich

All part of nature's rich tapestry! Great photo and observation as well. I hope your daffs will be OK!
