It is very difficult to

It is very difficult to determine a species from a leaf mine photographed in situ. There are several key details that get missed in such pictures - the frass pattern; whether the mine is confined to one side of the leaf or otherwise; whether the larva pupates inside the mine or not. Ox-eye Daisy has a number of fly mining species some of which are far more common than Phytomyza leucanthemi and which have superficially similar mine structures.
