Found washed up in Swanage. Not sure what seaweed it is being a complete seaweed novice.Any ideas?

Hi Graeme, although washed up

Hi Graeme, although washed up seaweed is always a little battered so can be hard to identify I think this is likely to be dulse Palmaria palmata which is a fairly common red seaweed that is often used in cooking. for more information on the species have a look at http://www.marlin.ac.uk/speciesinformation.php?speciesID=4028
