Upto 15 mm long. Orange/brown (copper) head. Brown wings with metallic sheen and black tips. I think its some type of beetle. Currently 100s flying up from under my floor boards, please help me identify them and if you are aware of how to get rid of them.

Hopefully someoone will check my id. You should also collect some insects for id confirmaton, and have a look at the following...

Rhagonycha fulva (not!)

Very odd to have these coming up from under floorboards! I'm not sure of the specifics for this species but adult beetles of this family are usually predators of other insects and the larvae often feed on slugs and snails.

Perhaps the larvae have rid you of a slug/snail problem under the floorboards and have now emerged adults!

I stand corrected. Murdo's ID looks good to me. And fits the behaviour of course!
