A pair of goldfinches

It certainly does look like a pair, with the male on the left and the female on the right. The red is a deeper tone on the male and is also more extensive behind the eye and all round the throat.

Also, the male, on the left, shows black hairs edging the bill above, while the female shows browner hairs.

Goldfinches

Pair now nesting in the area. Saw them collecting cow hair from the fence.
