Description:

In conversation today, the question arose as to whether the different forms of Harlequin Ladybird interbreed. I was reminded that I had images (shown here) of two of the forms mating. It would be interesting to know what sort of progeny will emerge if this interaction is successful.

Forms breeding

I am told that the forms of Haxy are largely determined by environmental factors rather than genetic factors - so I suppose the offspring of this mating could be any form.

NB this is second hand knowledge, and apparently most of the relevant literature is in German which I do not read, so may be incorrect.
