It does look like the Common

It does look like the Common Red Soldier Beetle but this beetle is not found until late June and also has red femora whereas the legs of this beetle are black. So Richard may be right!

Hi Richard / Jon

Thanks for your help. I have had a good look at a couple of live samples now and am in agreement it is Nacerdes melanura. I original thought that the warm weather had brought them out early but can clearly see the colour distinction (Which is unusual for me as I struggle with reds and greens).
