I am assuming the log is a broadleaved piece of wood. There are two fungi in this photograph. The Stereum-like bracket you are trying to name is old. If it is a Stereum it will have no pores underneath and if it is hirsutum it will have fine hairs on top. Beware it could be another species.
The purple fungus is most likely Chondrostereum purpureum.
