Rhagonycha fulva does not generally appear until late June so I ruled that out. Having said that no-one else seems to know what it is!
It does say that it appears in May-August plus this weather I feel has muddled things up.There is Cantharis livida which has a more rounded pronotum and no black tips to the elytra, what do you think.
I think Cantharis livida is a strong possibility. The markings on the legs seem to match together with the head and thorax. Also right time of year.
Do you want to put it on as the Id and I would agree on that and be much happier with the identification than the previous one it will then match with any previous submission's of this species.
I would like to retract my previous ID but I'm not sure how, (new to site). Having seen the pics of Cantharis livida it does match more closely than Rhagonycha fulva :(

I don't think you can retract an id, only an agreement!
If you look above the agreement there is a bit that say's remove agreement all you do is click on that.I think we have it right now, don't worry about retracting it it happen's all the time.
hope you enjoy the site
Yes I see that I can retract my agreement now thanks Sheila (and have now done so), but not my identification box.
I'm starting to get into the site now, it's getting quite addictive ;)
You cannot retract the identification box, sadly as I have sometimes put the wrong id and that is it for all to see,but if you have decided it is something else you have to put a new id one but the old one stay's.Your right it is addictive.
Ok, thanks for the help.
