Damselfly, Banded Demoiselle, female, Little Paxton, 2011-05-12 003

A delightful damselfly, and probably the best damselfly photograph I've ever taken! Canon 100mm F2.8 USM IS L lens on a Canon 7D. Hand-held, too...

A great combination

It's a great combination of Canon equipment isn't it, Simon? Expensive, but money well spent.

I'm beginning to get the hang of it now, though it's taken a little while. Macro photoraphy isn't straightforward, is it?
Trouble is, I'm into birds too, and I always seem to have the wrong lens on the camera. I had a scarce chaser fly off on me while I was changing lenses yesterday. I photographed it with my Canon 100-400mm USM L zoom lens, because I thought that might happen. It's not as good as this shot though. And yes, Peter, it was well worth the money. Even my wife agrees...

I have the Canon 100 macro and my husband has the Canon 100-400 etc etc etc. I can't count the number of times I've had the better shot with better depth of field for close subjects. Even my husband agree :-) It is a useful combination, me with my macro and him with his telephoto!

Great photo Simon

Every now and then things just fall into place when taking these wildlife photos - light, focus and a steady hand! Beautiful!
