M. rugosus is not as fat as this, and has an obvious head-thorax-abdomen segmentation, with elytra. This is one of the Timarcha, bloody-nosed beetles, tho I wouldn't be able to differentiate T. tenebricosa and T. goettingensis at this stage. Timarcha tenebricosa is a lot more common though
