Description:

These large wasps, along with bumblebees and common wasps,find my cotoneaster irresistible. Not sure if they are hornets. They are much larger than common wasp, markedly orangey on the body and with brownish tinge to wings.

I agree that 3 shows a yellow ocular sinus, but it also shows an entirely yellow clypeus and gena, typical of the Hornet. I think that the 2 upper pics are D. media and the 2 lower ones are Vespa crabro
