Did it smell?

Sweet cicely smells of aniseed. It's easier to recognise in fruit - 20-25mm long and 8-10 mm wide (not much use at the moment but really distinctive later on).

Sweet cicely is less likely in SE England (unless garden escape) - more likely to be Cow Parsley.
