Not sure -

Chicken-of-the-Woods is said to prefer deciduous trees, and this looks like it is growing on a conifer.
You could put it in as a revision, and see what the experts think - it's an interesting find, whatever it is.

I agree that it is not COTW. I have never found it on such a small branch. Not sure what it is though

Another Agreement

CotW has much bulkier, robust fruit bodies than this. It looks like it's growing on an Elder which is also unsusual. I agree with flaxton too - it's usually found on larger more mature trees
