My apologies for this question as I am what would be termed a "newbie". What does the "agg." added to the species name mean?
"agg" is short for aggregate. It is used where a number of rather similar species are lumped together under a single name for convenience. In the case of Taraxacum there are well over 200 microspecies which are rather difficult to tell apart. So most people simple lump them all together under the name Taraxacum officinale agg. A similar position occures with brambles (which IMHO are even worse to ID than dandelions) where there are over 400 microspecies which are rally lumped as Rubus frucitosus agg.
