The leaf shape and texture and the distinctive coloured edging to the stem do look like hedge woundwort, I agree! Thanks.

I could almost smell it!

Woundwort really is a stinker - just looking at the picture made me think of the smell!

Sorry to bring back the smell memory Chalkie. Apparently more recent testing backs up its reputed antiseptic qualities, so the volatile oils might not be all bad!
