Description:

Fine set of very large 5mm+ ticks spotted running up my trouser leg, would not stay still even for a moment in the hand so not very sharp picture.

Possibly.

Note sure of the scientific name for this species but they look like a type of pseudoscorpion (False Scorpion)

they are biting ticks that bury head into skin and suck blood but i don't know what species.

humm they do look quite like

humm they do look quite like pictures of Dermacentor and there were definitely dog (or wolf) footprints in the area.
