For about a week or so I'd noticed a Canada Goose swimming about with its head folder against its body in an odd seeming way.
Last weekend I found one dead in the canal, perhaps the same bird.
I've read the ring on its leg and reported that to BTO so will at least find out a bit more about the bird.

This sounds like -

one of the possible symptoms of lead poisoning - possibly from fishing weights?

Possibly, there is certainly a lot of fishing along the canal, although I have not inspected the weights used. Will draw the death to the attention of British Waterways as well so they can investigate if more incidents occur (we did have a couple of dead swans just along the canal from their earlier in the year).
