Mary Macarthur's picture

Observed: 27th April 2011 By: Mary Macarthur

The moth was on a strawberry leaf in my back garden in Frome, Somerset. It was about two centimetres across the bottom of the wings which were a strong red colour with a yellow spot on each corner and a few yellow markings along the bottom edge.
The legs were white and the upper body/wings looked furry and yellow. The stipes on the lower body may show it is emerging from the chrysalis. I only noticed this on the photo. It remained there for at least ten minutes.
