with the herpetology of Iberia, but I have a feeling this could be a Smooth Snake.
This is a distinctively marked snake, though not the most well marked individual. Some can have a definite 'ladder' with two stripes running down the back with regular cross lines. This has only hints at the parallel lines, look near the head. Smooth snakes are not this well marked.
