Name

Both my DK guide and Wikipedia call Ornithogalum umbellatum simply "Star-of-Bethlehem". Where does the "Garden" nomenclature originate?

In addition, Wikipedia says that the species belongs to the Hyacinthaceae family whereas the DK guide says it belongs to the Liliaceae. Which of these is correct?

Many thanks in advance,

Pete

'garden' put in automatically

'garden' put in automatically using the iSpot get recommended name. Garden might be to show it is not native (in UK) and to distinguish it from the others - Stace still has it as Star of Bethlehem though.
Unde the new angiosprem phyolgeny Ornithoglaum is now in Asparagaceae, which is probably its best long term place.
