Description:

My flat seems full of these little flies at the moment and they are providing lots of exercise for the cat, as well as supplementing her diet. She seems to find them very tasty.
Notice how the autofocus on the camera has focused on the reflected image in the mirror shot. Unintended but has given a great view of the ventral side.
According to Chinery Fannia canicularis is one of “many similar species” so I should probably have kept the ID down to Fanniidae.
