Grateful for a family/species for this fly, which is currently very common on deciduous tree leaves, locally. Active species, running over the leaves very quickly.
No interactions present.
Scathophagidae is the family that includes dung-flies, but many species in this family have no connection with dung. The early stages of Cordilura in the UK don't appear to be known, but some American species in this genus are believed develop in the stems of rushes and sedges.
Entomologist and biological recorder
I hadn't realised the variety within that family. I ran it through the key to families, yesterday, but assumed I had made a mistake when I got to Scathophagidae!
