Toad location

The toad was found in my garden, far from any water source. There are a couple of fishing ponds near me. Should I have attempted to get the toad to one of them?

Toad movement

Don't worry, toads spend most of their lives away from water, only going to ponds to spawn. It would be perfectly happy where it was.

Thanks for the info. I was especially conserned because of the hot, dry weather.
