Lovely photo of a cuckoo bee! Looks good for either Bombus vestalis or Bombus bohemicus, how did you rule out bohemicus?

Thank you! My assumption was based on a) it was quite large so potentially a female and bohemicus females don't have the yellow stripe on the abdomen b) the yellow band on the thorax was golden rather than lemon.

Thanks for the extra info. I can certainly see your point about the collar being more golden. As far as I know bohemicus females do have yellow on the abdomen, but it has more of a tendency to fade. So I think your assumption is probably correct, although I am always reluctant to claim any certainty over these two species.
