St Marks Fly in flight in Lynford Arboretum, Norfolk. Observed on the 23rd of April, rather than the 25th of April (st marks day), which just goes to show that flys don't really understand the civil calendar.

Are those fore-legs carried above the body

Apart from the long hind legs dangling below, are those fore-legs that it carries above its body in flight? I assume they aren't antenna, as they are not to be seen when resting.
