A small bright yellow cap in coastal grassland. I think it's a Bolbitius species but is it vitellinus or titubans?
Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!
Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
No interactions present.
I understood that Bolbitius tibutans and B.vitellinus were synonymus? Correct me if I'm wrong.
B. titubans is a more delicate species that grows on horse dung etc. It is claimed by some to be synonymous with B. vitellinus, but it is distinct in the field.
That could explain why I couldn't decide between them. Anyone know which one is current?
If you want to enter it in the national database it will change B vitellinus to B titubans. The latest books such as Funga Nordica etc have no B vitellinus as a separate species.
