Took these photos from 15 ft away, with my macro lens, after crawling on my belly over thistles and nettles to get close! Flippin' thing never came right out, of course!

Would have been nice with some sound (I'm trying to start a sound section on the forum). A few years ago there were some of these grasshopper warblers in a wood here right by the M1 but a friend still managed to get a sound recording excluding the thunder of the traffic, still have no idea how he managed to do it probably very directional mic and high quality dat recorder.

At such a close range, and being far away from any traffic, the sound was incredible, as it sang some 15ft away. The only interruption was from a Whitethroat, which was directly above me in the bush beneath which I was hiding, and from a Lesser Whitethroat in the next bush.

Some of the local Open Access areas are fantastic for wildlife and have the benefit that no-one else seems to know they are open to them!

Not sure that I am ready for another bit of kit with me, at the moment, but the iHear idea sounds good!
