When the fruit ripen the arils around the seeds are quite spectacular. Have you seen them since this picture was taken in July?

No I have not seen the site since July. The hedge study was made whilst on holiday in Herefordshire. A great place for wildlife on my early morning walks. I am also conducting a similar study in Huntingdonshire. The hedges at both locations are very old. I will atempt to get a good age estimate from old maps and records at both sites. Altough very limited in scope, it will be interesting to compare both sites.

You will probably be interested to know that we will be running a national survey of hedgerow biodiversity in Sept next year. It will be advertized on iSpot nearer the time.
