Yes...winter visitors, for the most part. A very few breed in the north, but mainly they winter or pass through. It is not unusual for a few to hang on into May, and, of course, some of those that winter in Spain and France will pass through as well, in spring, heading for Scandinavia.
This time of year is always interesting, as it is not uncommon to see newly arrived summer visitors and late winterers on the same day. There are still some Waxwing hanging on, for example, while the country is 'swarming' with Hoopoes and Bee Eaters!
