Chickens -

and other large birds are quite happy to tackle snakes, it seems. Outside the UK, there are several species whose diet includes a sizeable proportion of reptiles.
Where adders are still to be found in the UK, they are notably absent where the pheasant density is high.

I am lucky enough to live

I am lucky enough to live close to what is seemingly a high population of Grass snakes/ Adders and I also keep chickens. I have never seen a snake at the end of the garden. lol.
