Fly?

Description:

Small insect found on Ash tree. Appears to have one pair of wings, but maybe has two pairs. From photo number of legs not clear, but I think is six. Yellow furry head, with 'antenna' out back.

Now I've found the insect, I agree it's a moth.

At first, I thought the subject was the dark shape, but it's clearly a moth just below & to the right of centre.

I get the impression that you've taken the photo through a supplementary lens or eye-glass.

As I know from bitter experience, automatic cameras don't perform well in unusual circumstances such as this. I hope you won't be offended therefore if I suggest that you hold the supplementary lens against the camera lens to minimise reflections and shadows.
