Not sure how many Springtail experts there are in the UK... Fingers crossed we will get a good ID.

Not a site I have been to before. Once you manage to avoid the pop-up advertisements it looks to be an informative site. Orchesella villosa seems a good match from the scanned print, but the photographs are a little less conclusive - none that I looked at really show the pattern and the springtail seems to be very hairy.

I had an email from Peter Shaw, a Springtail expert telling me that this is Orchesella villosa. A lucky first Springtail ID it seems.
