Description:

This pair were so focussed on dealing each with the other that they didn't see me at 1.5 m distance. The fight continued for several minutes before they were last seen rolling down a slope, locked together in combat.

Immature males

The second picture seems to show dull, grey, juvenile primary coverts on each bird. The depth of blue on each suggests male birds. So, it appears to be two young males, born last year, struggling for a territory.

Fantastic pictures, Andy!

Thanks Ian

They were certainly 'going for broke'. I would imagine that there would be some serious damage to the loser.
