Observed: 14th March 2011 By: rwales

I spotted several clumps of this fungus growing at the base of a large conifer outside my vet's surgery. Exterior is brown, inside is white waxy. They were at or below soil level, and were hollow cup/bowl shapes.
I will go back tomorrow to see if they look any different now.

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Chase View fungus

It looks exactly like the second image provided in "Other Observations". I will try to identify the tree under which it is growing. Many thanks for the suggestion!

Cedar tree now cut down

I was saddened to see that the tree under which I had seen the Cedar Cup fungi has now been cut down, as of July 2012.

It is such a shame when people cut tree's down as they add to much life to an area also lot's of life live on and in them too.
