Quedius subgenera

It's definitely not subgenus Raphirus with that parallel-sided abdomen. Looks most like subgenus Quedius s.s.: note size range of these is 9-13 mm and although they're very stretchy, I guess 17 mm is an error? From what I can see on these pics it could also be Microsaurus, several of which occur in dead wood. The published handbook should have a much improved key to subgenera compared to the draft keys on my website.
