I would probably have gone a bit further than Ophrys has with this ID and called it a "Phylloscopus warbler" (and almost certainly either a Chiffchaff or Willow Warbler).

It's probably best to leave the ID more open though - structurally it looks like one of the leaf warblers (Phylloscopus), but it's hard to be completely certain from the photo.

The reference to the "sharp call" could easily describe the typical calls of these two as well as the song (a slurred "Hweeet" for Chiffchaff, and a more disyllabic "Ho-eet" for Willow Warbler).
