Look at the second picture. Just behind the head there are 3 'blobs'. These could be mites I have seen a couple of bees recently with infestations.
Yes - those are mites - usually harmless to the bee except if the infestation is very heavy. They are just hitching a ride to a nest where they feed on nest debries and the like.
