Description:

On grassy edge of felled woodland, upright unbranched downy or hairless perennial leaves stalked. This is the closest match I could get with leaf shape and seed head, the only thing that concern's me is that it says chalky ground and mine is not chalky more acid.I am taking a guess at this one, there were no other plants in the area

Betony - acid or alkaline?

Having spent some time in Cornwall over the years this is a plant I associate with acid soils.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for that as the books were saying chalk but maybe we should not take everything we read as gospel
