The trick I was taught when I was fisrt beginning to grapple with sedges and grasses was to feel the stem. Grasses have round stems, sedges have triangular stems. "Sedges have edges" was the phrase. Not by any means infallible but a good start.

Ha ha, that's a catchy way of remembering the differences. I have enough on my plate with the flowers. I just thought they were really distinctive
