bright yellow/orange with reddish brown scales.one of a group of three found on an
old Prunus tree.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

I have ticked 'i agree' but

I have ticked 'i agree' but this is not a particularly typical specimen, should be more shaggy.

It could possibly be.......................

It could possibly be Pholiota aurivella (Golden Scalycap) or P.adiposa. I say this because your photo seems to show the scales lying flatter on the surface of the cap. However, both these are much less common, so it is probably more likely to be an atypical specimen of P.squarrosa.
