This is a hatched pupa of one

This is a hatched pupa of one of the Chilocorini family of ladybirds - Pine, Heather or Kidney-spot.

This isn't Pine, as the pupa (inside the shed skin) would have an orange streak on the thorax, which leaves us with the two Chilocorus species.

Both are found on conifers: I would lean towards Kidney-spot as the shed skin apears to be all black - final-instar Kidney spot larvae are all black, whereas Heather has an orange stripe across the thorax

Record your ladybird sightings!
