Description:

This tree has been uprooted, and the branches trimmed. The holes are about 2-3mm across. Not sure if they are wood pecker marks or man-made. I have heard wood peckers drumming in this wood in the last week.

What about wood-boring beetles?

These holes are quite small and very symetrical. Have you considered they may have been made by an insect perhaps one of the beetles?

Best wishes,
Mike

beetles

I agree they don't look rough enough for a woodpecker.
