Perhaps you should have put it out of its misery!
could be the old double daffodil Narcissus 'Telamonius Plenus' - it generally produces ragged balls of yellow but can be variable from year to year, sometimes throwing greenish flowers. It has been known since at least the 17th Century. More info at http://daffseek.org/query/query-detail.php?value1=Telamonius%20Plenus&la...
It is a common relict in waste places, cemeteries and old gardens and is also still widely grown.
