Looks like a gall - what leaf is it on?
a bit at a loss with this one I'm afraid, not sure what the leaf was but the 'gall' is approximately 6 mm along its longest length. If I revisit the location I will try to ID the trees.
It looks like a Pontania sp gall on a willow leaf. There are many Pontania sawflies and the species of leaf often helps with the identification.
