Description:

Can anyone help with an ID? I watched this small solitary bee feeding on what I think is Arabidopsis thaliana today in my garden. The flowers of this plant (weed) are tiny (only about 5mm across) which helps to give this bee some scale. I don't know where to start with this one. Not something I've seen before.

Identification of Lasioglossum

Hi Matt. Just wondered what distinguishes this as a Lasioglossum rather than any of the other solitary bee species? Is it the shiny thorax? the size? or something else?

Trying to learn to ID them... early days!

Cheers. Jane
