Is this the one

that has provoked all the discussion on the London Birders forum?

RoyW's picture

Yes it's that one.

This bird has provoked some discussion on the London Birders Yahoo group - and much of it was probably my fault. After being one of very few people to see it on the day it was first found, I queried the presence of an apparent pale line on the lower scapulars, and raised the possibility of it being a hybrid (although adding that I saw it very late in the evening, in poor light).
It was not seen again for several days, but after it turned up again, and allowed close scrutiny it seems that everything is within the variation for pure Green-winged Teal.
