This Rainbow Trout was some 400 meters up a small stream from Hillsborough lake, which is stocked with Rainbow Trout.I watched her as she negotiated some very thin water and then as she rested in some eight inches of water she to my amazement, proceeded to cut a Redd in which I presume she planned to lay her eggs. Unfortunately at this point I managed to spook her and she fled down stream to the point where I had first noticed her.At one point I thought I saw magenta on the gill plate which if I remember correctly would make her a him and it is also not spawning time but a fish cutting a Redd cannot be mistaken for anything else.
