Fucus sp

Observed: 11th March 2011 By: mbf45mbf45’s reputation in Plantsmbf45’s reputation in Plantsmbf45’s reputation in Plants

This keys out (using Fish & Fish) as a Fucus. The shape of the reproductive bodies did not match the description of F. spiralis and seemed to be more in line with those of F. vesiculosus. As can be seen in the first picture there seem to be no air bladders so it could be F. vesiculosus forma linearis?
Any suggestions?

Fucus vesiculosus forma linearis

I think you are right, mbf45. The lack of bladders in F. vesiculosus is often reported from populations on exposed shores, and this location looks like it could get a battering from the waves; does it?
